Your victory is someone else’s hope

A picture of me on duty during Sunday service at Global Harvest Church.

I had a conversation with an acquaintance yesterday and told me about a business she just relaunched, the vision she has for it and the challenges she has been facing. I could totally relate with all that she said.

After listening to her for a while, I told her that she would be fine and she was going to succeed. I didn’t say that just to make her happy. I said it because it is something that I am sure of. She is building something that is adding value and she is very passionate about it. It’s not about the money for her.

Her story reminded me of my journey. How I first started this blog, then LRouge Media, then Sparkle Writers and then ContentCraft. That’s such a long list. I remembered the difficult moments when I asked God why He couldn’t have given me an easier path to follow in life.

I don’t know about you but I want to live that fabulous life. I don’t want to struggle for anything and I want things to come exactly when I need them. However, I realise now that the bumps and turns of life are what makes it interesting.

Your challenges give you a story to tell months and years later. It felt nice being a source of encouragement to the acquaintance I mentioned earlier. She was eager to hear my story and how I overcame the various challenges. I’ve also been able to encourage several people recently because I have been in their shoes at one point in my life and I am proof that they will be fine.

Life is a circle and our lives are intertwined. When you face tough times, know that you are not alone. Someone has gone through what you are going through, someone is going through it at the same time as you and someone will go through it in the future. That negative experience, no matter how much you hate it, is not just about you alone.

God will send you someone who will help you through your tough times and you will also be sent to someone to help them out of the challenging situations they may face. So don’t despair when challenges come. They won’t break you if you choose to hold on to God’s word. Always ask God for strength and surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you.

Don’t be afraid to share your failures and struggles with people. Don’t be afraid to admit your mistakes and shortcomings. Someone needs to hear it to know that they are not alone in what they are going through.

Your victory is someone else’s hope and that hope might just be the only thing that person has to hold on to.
