Don’t take diligence for granted

Thank God for a new month! I’m so excited about June and there is no particular reason why. I just believe great things are in store for me this month. May was beyond awesome. I grew in all dimensions. I studied my Bible more and I had more quiet time with God. I also spent more time in worship and God gave me a number of songs too. I grew in my love walk, made new friends and I was a blessing to certain people. That’s a lot to be grateful for.

There is one thing that really struck me in the month of May. It’s not like it is something new; it was just reinforced in many ways. I’m talking about the rewards of being diligent. I saw things turn around for two people who had been working hard for quite a long time. They toiled for many years behind the scenes, hustling some may say and working towards that big break. For one of them, it took seven years but the big break came and you cannot even call it a big break. It was a mighty break; one that has completely transformed her life and social status. The other person has been working diligently for about three years and now, his story has changed.

It’s easy to look at such people today and envy them. As I was thinking through the journey to their breakthrough the Scripture in Proverbs 22:29 kept coming to my mind;

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

More than ever, it is important for you to realise that you have to be diligent. Want to hit it big one day? Start now. Keep improving yourself. Strive for excellence. It’s not going to be an easy journey. There are many times I wish the millions will come right now but God reminds me that it is a journey. I cannot rush ahead of His plans for me. While things may seem a bit difficult, I have to endure. There are sacrifices I have to make. I have to see the bigger picture and work as if the millions are already in my account.

Don’t take diligence for granted. Whatever you are doing, no matter how small, keep at it. Consistency brings perfection. And perfection is not something that is static. You have to keep pushing the boundaries of what is perfect. If you do something that is perfect now, your next job must be more perfect if you get what I mean. You will definitely stand before kings; don’t doubt that. I am always encouraged when I read success stories and I am more encouraged when it is one that I know personally. It tells me that my time is coming. It tells me that my expected end is closer than I think.

I just want to encourage someone as we begin this new month. Don’t give up on your dreams. Forget how hard things are right now. Focus on being the best you can be and put your all in your business or job. It’s only a matter of time; your big break will come too. And I’d like to add something here. Don’t take your relationships with people for granted. You don’t know who God is going to use to bring about your big break. The lady I mentioned earlier, it was a former client who introduced her to a new client who introduced her to the person who changed her whole life. You see how long that chain is? If she had done a mediocre job for that first client or she had not treated her well, this big break would not have come. So from your superiors to your subordinates, treat everyone with respect. Even the seemingly random people you meet on a daily basis deserve your respect too.

I pray that God will lead you in the path that you should go and open your eyes to new opportunities for growth. I pray that you will have an excellent spirit just like Daniel had. June will be a month of distinction for you. Things will be easy for you. Amen. Now go out and shine!
