Are you standing in the way of your progress?

February is here! The month of love they call it. Time has started flying again. January went by too quickly or is it just me? I’m glad February is here though; I am really excited about what God is going to do this month. So many opportunities came my way in January and I had to let God guide me in deciding which of the opportunities to seize and the ones to let go of. There were a few disappointments, broken promises and unfulfilled expectations but it was still a victorious month nonetheless.

But do you know what I realised?

It’s the importance of preparation.

A lot of people are not prepared to get to their next level in life. They say they want money but from their actions, you will think they want to wallow in poverty for the rest of their lives. It’s important to pray to God for divine help and miracles but it is also important for you to be prepared for those miracles. God is a God of order; He has a role to play and you have your own role to play too. I have said it before on this blog, God will not carry out your own role for you. If you are seeking career advancement, God will not register for new professional qualifications for you. While He will provide the resources, it is your duty to search out the skills and exams you need and enrol for them.

Similarly, God can link you with people who will move you to the next level but it is your duty to ensure that you can sustain their attention. Imagine if God miraculously brings you face to face with Dangote and you cannot hold a meaningful one-minute conversation with him. You have simply wasted that opportunity. Just look at Joseph in the Bible. From Potiphar’s house to Pharaoh’s palace, he was ready to deploy the talent God gave him. All he was simply waiting for was his time.

May of us shout, “This is my time; this is my season” in church but are you really ready to seize the moment? If you wasted January, another month is here for you to make things right. Don’t be lazy this month. Step out boldly in the pursuit of your dreams. Put in the effort required. If you are in ministry, serve with all your heart. If you are an entrepreneur, give that business your best shot. When you play your part, you can be rest assured that God will play His part. Remember He is not a magician; He is a God of principles and order. While He can lead someone to pay $1,000,000 into your account (Hallelujah somebody!) more often than not, He will teach you how to make wealth and cause you to be favoured as you follow his divine will and guidance. Free money is good but learning how to make wealth is better.

Do something different this month. Let every day be spent in preparation as you let God guide you. There is so much God wants to do in your life but your inaction is hindering Him. Now is the right time to make a change.
